Tips specifically for dog portraits
Fur is the trickiest part. A few things we consider in our design, and that you can also keep in mind:
- Dark dogs receive extra contrast threads (often warm brown through black) so the fur doesn't become one solid patch.
- White dogs, on the other hand, need many soft gray tones — pure white is rare in real fur.
- The eyes are embroidered last — only then do you see how much light you need to add to the whites of the eyes.
- Nose and mouth often only need a few stitches to regain resemblance.
